Submission + - China's Islands on Open Street Maps (openstreetmap.org)

SysEngineer writes: China has people modifying Open Street Maps to show their claim in the South China Sea. The international court has ruled against China. Should OSM be neutral and or show the islands as China's?

Security is most important. Rust reduces the attack window for software by a large amount.
Rust analysis happens at compile time. This in it self reduces the attack window.
Zero garbage collection make it great for embedded and sandbox environments.
Rust to WASM produces very safe code that can run is a browser.

Libraries? I had to fork two projects to get my projects to work.

I think writing in rust is a good idea,

A homogeneous society is easier to manage.
It make perfect sense if values, make the country more important than and individuals or group.
America is falling apart because of lies and polarization, China sees that and want to remove anything they think would challenge the CCP.
Religion to some is more important than country. CCP does not like that.

Submission + - SPAM: Russian Twitter throttling backfires.

SysEngineer writes: Possibly, Roskomnadzor inadvertently blocked or throttled all domains containing the string t.co rather than blocking only the domain t.co itself. This would cause the throttle or block to be applied to—for instance—microsoft.com, reddit.com, and even Russian state-operated news site rt.com.

Just because one moron thinks it is not an insurrection does not make it a lie.

The legal definition of insurrection is "A rising or rebellion of citizens against their government, usually manifested by acts of violence." legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/insurrection

Other: "It was an insurrection, they attacked Congress to "stop" the official ballot count using violence."
Your Reply: "There is 0 evidence that they tried to stop rather than protest it."
WTF? "stop the steal" "hang mike pence", They had clubs and spears, They broke into the Congress. Groups even planned and admit they were try to stop it, Zip-ties to take hostages.

Please check your self into a mental-hospital to protect the rest of us from your insanity.
I would love to see one of those idiots sue me for slander.

These people attacked Congress with the goal of rebelling("stopping") the counting of the ballots and install The Orange Idiot as president.
I believe that is true. There is no malice, just facts.

This passes the test for malice. Both Slashdot and BeauHD personally are deliberately spreading lies by calling the riot an "insurrection". The legal standard for lying with malice is that you must know that the lie is a lie at the time you tell it. Both Slashdot and BeauHD know that this has not been an insurrection and they say that it has been despite knowing otherwise.

Submission + - Open Source Website To Hunt Down Capitol Insurrectionists (huffpost.com)

SysEngineer writes: Some of the citizen sleuths behind the open-source effort to identify the hundreds of Donald Trump-loving rioters who stormed the U.S. Capitol have launched an impressive new website that organizes the stunning amount of digital evidence collected about the Jan. 6 insurrection.

The website, Jan6evidence.com, was built by a small team of volunteer software developers, using the work of open-source investigators looking into the deadly Capitol attack. The site features a color-coded timeline that reflects the time of day, and allows users to click around on a map of the Capitol and pull up any video evidence from a particular location and time frame. Users can even track an individual suspect’s movements over the course of Jan. 6.
